Dar’s Craft Beer Picks
Jack’s Abby Jabby Brau (4.5%): Jack’s Abby Brewery is located in Framingham, MA. This brewery specializes in making the best craft lagers out of the finest locally sourced ingredients. Jabby Brau is their “flavorful, drinkable, and most sessionable lager.” It is deep golden in color, and balances Pilsner and Munich malt with aromatic American hops. This beer starts hoppy but finishes unexpectedly malty with very low bitterness. Pair Jabby Brau with something you haven’t had on our menu yet, or one of our delicious specials because it is a great food beer.
S and S Farm Brewery Brown Chicken Brown Ale (5.4%): Sing the name! This American-style brown ale is super fresh because it comes to us from a 6th generation family farm about twenty minutes away in Nassau. They are growing their own barley and hops to use in the brewing process on their 180 acre farm. This beer has a great balance of hops and specialty malts and finishes smooth. Pair this fresh pint with our delicious smoked BBQ dishes or try a new dinner entrée! (You can visit the brewery for tastings and growler fills at the farm on Fridays from 6-8 PM. Spaten Oktoberfest (5.9%): This is a traditional Marzen style beer from Germany. It is well balanced and pairs well with our BBQ an all German-style food.
Captain Lawrence IPA (6.5%): This well balanced American style IPA comes to us from Elmsford, NY, just a couple hours downstate. They add four different western U.S. hops to this brew, and three of those four hops are also used in the dry hopping process in the development of this beer. Enjoy with our award-winning chicken wings!
Rushing Duck Beanhead Porter (5.7%): This beer comes to us from a small brewery in Chester, NY. The Beanhead takes the base beer of a robust porter and pairs it with a fantastic coffee flavor that comes from a Guatemalan bean roasted by Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in Kauneonga Lake, NY. It has a taste of coffee with overtones of bittersweet cocoa and caramel malt balanced with a slight earthy bitterness. While it may look filling, Beanhead is actually medium bodied and lacks the cloying sweetness that makes so many other stouts and porters seem so “heavy.” This is a fresh beer that pairs excellently with our BBQ meats and stands alone wonderfully as a dessert. Try it! You won’t be disappointed!
Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale (4.7%): This pumpkin ale from Portland, ME is a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with subtle notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Very well balanced, this beer will pair well with our tasty BLT, turkey dinner, as well as cheesecake with caramel sauce! Enjoy with or without a cinnamon-sugar rim. *Dar’s Autumnal beer tip: Try this beer with half Guinness!*
