Dar’s Craft Beer Picks
Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale (4.2%): This refreshing ale comes to us from Chicago. You’ll notice a slight spicy hop aroma in the nose, and then following that, a crisp fruity flavor delivered in a creamy body. This beer is delicious on its own and also pairs well with our fresh salads and fish dishes.
Bell’s Best Brown Ale (5.8%): This is a smooth, toasty brown ale coming to us from Kalamazoo, Michigan. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops. Enjoy with one of our delicious burgers or BBQ entrees.
Jack’s Abby Copper Legend Octoberfest (5.7%): Another great beer from a great brewery! Their Octoberfest is malty, smooth, and exceedingly drinkable. The brewery uses locally grown wheat near their brewery in Framingham, MA with Munich malt and noble hops in this beer. Enjoy with our burgers or smoked BBQ dishes with a side of potato pancakes. The annual Towne Tavern Octoberfest is coming up soon, so you can enjoy a pint of this beer with some homemade German food!
Stone IPA (6.9%): One of the best-selling IPAs in the country, this refreshingly hoppy west coast IPA is sure to tantalize your taste buds. You will enjoy this beer on its own on a hot day, like the San Diego climate where it is brewed, and also paired with spicier foods like our chicken wings and stuffed jalapenos.
Rushing Duck Beanhead Porter (5.7%): This beer comes to us from a small brewery in Chester, NY. The Beanhead takes the base beer of a robust porter and pairs it with a fantastic coffee flavor that comes from a Guatemalan bean roasted by Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in Kauneonga Lake, NY. It has a taste of coffee with overtones of bittersweet cocoa and caramel malt balanced with a slight earthy bitterness. While it may look filling, Beanhead is actually medium bodied and lacks the cloying sweetness that makes so many other stouts and porters seem so “heavy.” This is a fresh beer that pairs excellently with our BBQ meats and stands alone wonderfully as a dessert. Try it! You won’t be disappointed!
Dogfish Head Punkin Ale (7.0%): This full-bodied brown ale comes to us from Milton, Delaware. DFH Brewery’s “off-centered ale” approach has made them one of the most popular breweries in the country. You will notice smooth hints of pumpkin and brown sugar and a little bit of spice, but it is not like drinking a pumpkin pie. This is a great beer to warm up with this time of year and pairs deliciously with our BBQ entrees, turkey dinner, and heartier dinner specials. Enjoy with a cinnamon-sugar rim for added sweetness or try it in a half and half with Guinness.
